Talk and Tour Paul Nash’s Wittenham Clumps
Christopher Baines gives us an illustrated talk, at St Agatha’s church, Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, OX10 0RU (park on adjacent roads) on Nash’s background and his work with the Clumps. We then move up to the Clumps (car-park directly below, max 20 cars – car-share if poss.), where a walk of around an hour (1.5 miles) explores the landscape and places significant to the artist. Bring a picnic lunch, or café at nearby Sylva Foundation, where you can also look round the meadows and woodcraft businesses. The walk will take place whatever the weather; it involves some climbing of hills but is not particularly strenuous, though it is unsuitable for wheelchair users. No dogs, as cattle often graze the landscape. Maximum 20; £11 members, £16 guests.
