The gardens of the 20th century are only now starting to receive the recognition they deserve, with relatively few listed on the Register of Parks and Gardens and many already suffering from neglect or redevelopment. In this lecture, Susannah Charlton will use a selection of significant gardens featured in her book 100 20th-Century Gardens and Landscapes to make the case for valuing and protecting this modern heritage.

Susannah Charlton is a consultant, who has worked on publications, websites and communications for the C20 Society and the Gardens Trust following a career in publishing. She was publisher for the RHS, edited guidebooks for English Heritage and has an MSc in Architectural History. Susannah was the co-editor, with Elain Harwood, of several C20 Society books, including 100 20th-Century Gardens and Landscapes (2020, Batsford).
