Visit to Asthall Manor Garden, an intriguing place where the Mitford sisters lived from 1919–26 – a Jacobean manor house surrounded by a garden, woodland and meadows that blend into the glorious Windrush valley landscape beyond. Wildflower-fringed lawns, secret lake and woodland paths, exuberant borders, magnificent trees and fabulous roses that climb up the manor walls and scramble over the orchard.
Guided tour by Head Gardener Owen Vaughan of the formal garden, originally designed by Isabel & Julian Bannerman 1997–98 and since evolved, as well as the surrounding woodland and meadows; a break for coffee/tea and cake; followed by a guided tour of the walled kitchen garden by Kitchen Gardener Tim Mitchell.
